Life Highlights –

What you have told us about yourself these past 40 years

1972 – Bob and Barbara, both graduates of the Class of ’62, were married on April 6, 1966. They have one daughter, Rae Jean Elizabeth who will be one year in May. Bob received a BS from the University of California (Berkley) and took Post Doctoral Training at Washington University. He is now Assistant Professor in Biochemistry at Duke University. Barb received a BS in Education at the University of Nebraska. They Lived outside New York City, in Berkley California, in St Louis County, and will be moving to Durham North Carolina this fall. In their spare time they enjoy traveling and Bob is interested in photography and gardening. Barb Relaxes by knitting, doing needlepoint, and reading.

1982 – Bob and Barbara have 2 children, Rae Jean (11) and Scott (8). The have lived in Durham since 1972 when Bob joined the faculty of Duke University. He is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry, teaches medical and graduates students and runs his own research group of 6-8 graduate students and post-doctorial fellows. Barbara manages the home and children and is contemplating teaching again. Bob’s hobbies include jogging, gardening, antique clocks, and coin collecting. Barbara enjoys bridge, squash, reading, and various handicrafts. They have taken 2-month trips abroad and have visited many parts of the United States. This past year they have lived in Cambridge, England where Bob is on Sabbatical leave. They have explored England, Scotland, France, and Kenya.

1987 – Bob is James B. Duke Professor of Biochemistry at Duke University and Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Bob is associate editor of the Journal of Biochemistry; Hubert Evans visiting scholar to New Zealand – 1984; and Japan Society for Promotion of Science Scholar – 1985. Bob is also the author of more than 100 scientific papers. Barb is a math teacher for the Durham County Schools. Their daughter, Rae Jean is now 16, and Scott is 13. The family travels in their spare time. During the past 5 years, they have visited New Zealand, Australia, the Virgin Islands, Japan, the Southwest United Sates, and England.
