Life Highlights –

What you have told us about yourself these past 40 years

1972 – Judy graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1966 and is a graduate student in Human Development and the Family. She is the Head Teacher, Lincoln Child Care Center. She lived in Berkley, California for a year while she taught home ec in a San Francisco suburb and then returned to Lincoln to marry Bill. They have traveled quite a bit, as she was finished this questionnaire, they were packing for a two-week trip to Mexico. She still enjoys swimming as always, putters a bit in a small flower garden, enjoys bicycling and walking in the country.

1982 – Judy and Les have 1 boy, Zachary Bucklin Lane (4). Immediately following the 10 year reunion, she spent a year completing a master’s degree in Human Development and the Family at UNL. She spent nearly 5 years as instructor and director of day care at Ruth Staples Child Development Lab. During that time, she was divorced and remarried a few years later. At age 33, she had Zachary and resigned her position at UNL to enjoy her son. She still teaches part-time at UNL and Southeast Community College and will teach at Tifereth Israel Synagogue Nursery School this next year. She also keeps busy with church and community activities and has recently taken up quilting. Les is a research biochemist at UNL and his son Nathan (11) is with them part of each week.

1987 – Les and Judy are raising tow children, Nathan (16) and Zachary (9). Judy is an instructor at UNL in Human Development and the Family. She works with students, pre-schoolers, and families through the Child Development Lab. In her spare time she likes gardening and quilting.

2002 – Seems like a fast moving forty years. I remember LNE years very positively with wonderful friends and productive activities, especially the synchronized swim club, Penguins. I still love to swim. I have enjoyed many years of teaching, mostly as a teacher trainer in early childhood education. Am not teaching regularly now but do not consider myself as retired. I am “redirecting’. I quilt, garden, exercise, read, love to travel, and am involved in interesting activities. I enjoy being with family and friends. I am grateful for these wonderful relationships.

2007 – About seven years ago I decided to stop teaching early childhood classes on a regular basis. I continue to enjoy quilting and so some teaching of quilting andd other sewing classes. Our son, Zachary, lives in New York City. My stepson, Nathan, and his wife Sara, are Foreign Service Officers and lin abroad with their son Peter. Both sons give us some great places for trips out of Lincoln.
