Life Highlights –

What you have told us about yourself these past 40 years

1972 – Linda is married to Richard L. Young, a Northeast graduate in 1960. She and Richard have a foster child, Mark (12), since July 1971. Linda earned a BS degree from the University of Nebraska in 1965 and is now a home economics teacher at Robin Mickle Junior High School. Linda was a home extension agent for one year after graduation in Battle Creek, Madison County, Nebraska. She and Dick are presidents of Cross Trailers Square Dance Club and in the summer of 1970 they traveled to Connecticut and Cape Cod for a vacation. They really enjoy teenagers and have worked with them in various groups. They will be attending the first National Square Dance Convention the weekend of our class reunion. They have a camper and a 16’ Larson Runabout, so they go camping, fishing, and water skiing most of the summer. They also bowl on a mixed league and have a spoiled miniature poodle, who is now a father.

1982 – Linda married Dick Young from the LNE class of ’60. They have one foster child, Mark Stover (22). Linda received her MS degree in home economics education and family resources in 1075. She has taught Home Ec. at Mickle Jr High and is now at Everett Jr High. Linda and Dick purchased 80 acres and rent an additional 400+ and have built up a hog operation in the past 6 years. Most of their spare time is spent square dancing. They helped start Crosstrailers Club and Dick will be President of the Square Callers Association for 1982-83.

1987 – Linda is still at Everett Junior High in Lincoln, where she teaches Home Economics and has been in charge of the school Community Intervention Program (drug / alcohol intervention). She is currently teaching Skills for Adolescents, the drug prevention program sponsored by the Lion’s Club, to three groups. She has written a curriculum guide called Teenliving (now in its second printing) and also many “learning plans” for the Individualized Home Ec Program, which has been sold nationwide. She and Dick (LNE class of ’60) enjoy farming and are very active square dancers.
